We’ll put a little intro in here later. For now, this is just stream of consciousness ramblings about my new puppy, Okami.
Okami (aka Champ) is technically a White Shepherd, which is basically a pure white German Shepherd. His name is Japanese, and is an abbreviation of “White Wolf” (“shiroi okami”) —
白い狼
I first met him at the Malibu Farmers Market. I had zero intention of adopting a dog that day. I was there to meet a friend. I came home with a 68 pound puppy.
7 Days In : General Thoughts
The metamorphosis of rescue dogs never ceases to amaze me. At first, they are super compliant and hyper-playful and scared. As they build comfort, their true personality emerges. They negotiate the relationship with the new Master. Over the course of the first 10 days, the tone is set. I was really worried about Okami days 1-3. He ate EVERYTHING (boxes, clothes, towels, rugs, furniture, shoes, even my PHONE). But he is calming down quickly. Its beautiful to witness.
Day 8 : Feb 10, 9am
He got the red tip and went for the hump this morning… pinned him down QUICK… we are not having ANY of that with a >70 lb beast!!!!!

He’s a tremendous amount of work and energy. I go to bed exhausted nightly. As we’ve talked about tho, now that I am responsible for another living creature, I have no time anymore for my inner negative talk bullshit. There are things to do, places to go! #motivation
