Exploring the PossibilitySpace of a joint project which Roberts & Riggs can co-create, tapping into their solid experience at the bleeding edges of immersive storytelling / LBE / theatre / tech / VR / AR / XR, and embodying their shared vision of experiential design that breaks the chains of linearity and fixed narrative arcs.

models:

delivery platform:

  • Meta Ray-Ban smartglasses
  • PRIMARY UX is POSITIONAL AUDIO
    • Q: are the glasses stereo only, or 3d-positional?
    • if stereo, then prototype 3d audio on:
      • AirPods Pro, and
      • Meta Quest 3 w/full passthrough
  • software / experience will evolve

layers:

  • on-device (what happens on glasses edge CPU)
  • on-phone (tethered to glasses)
  • cloud (our datacenters)

work smart, not hard:

  • pre-process most common branches and stage the audio locally on glasses (severely reduced latency)
  • use psycho-acoustic tricks to move heavy lifting from digital electronics (glasses, phone, cloud) to user’s brain (psychological projection).

graceful degradation (nice to have; not v1.0):

  • handle it when WiFi / Cell signal is weak/lost.

    • experience, experiment, learn
  • get into Meta AR dev partner program
  • install & configure toolchain
  • build the “Hello World” app
    • fastest possible route to code an app and pop it onto the glasses / get it running
  • build a basic game

  • start building the “product” (goal experience)
